เรียน เพื่อนๆร่วมห้องทุกคน,

ผมมั่นใจว่าทุกคนคงจะได้เห็นจดหมายของผมที่แบ่งปันบางอย่างที่เป็นส่วนตัวยิ่งของผมต่อ รร แอปเปิ้ล ของเรา โชคร้ายที่ความสงสัยต่อสุขภาพของผมซึ่งเป็นประธานนักเรียน ยังคงเป็นอุปสรรคไม่ใช่แค่ต่อผม ครอบครัว และ แฟนคลับ ของผม แต่ยังรวมไปทุกคนใน รร. อีกด้วย นอกจากนั้นในสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาผมได้ค้นพบว่าปัญหาเกี่ยวกับสุขภาพของผมมันซับซ้อนกว่าที่ผมคิดไว้ในตอนแรก

เพื่อที่ผมจะได้นำตัวเองออกจากจุดสนใจ(แน่นอน สาวๆ เพราะใกล้วันวาเลนไทน์แล้ว) และให้ความสนใจกับสุขภาพของผม และให้ทุกคนที่ รร. มีสมาธิกับการส่งรายงาน อันยอดเยี่ยม ผมตัดสินใจที่จะลาป่วยจนถึงเดือนมิถุนายน

ผมได้ขอให้ ดช. ทิม คุก ทำหน้าที่รับผิดชอบตำแหน่งแระธาน นักเรียน ชั่วคราวแบบวันต่อวัน (ถ้าทำงานไม่ดี จะลุกจากเตียงไปตบ) และผมรู้ว่าทีมงานกรรมการ นักเรียนทั้งหมด จะทำงานได้อย่างดีเยี่ยม ในฐานะ ประธานนักเรียน และ ประธานรุ่น ผมวางแผนที่จะมีส่วนในการตัดสินใจทางกลยุทธที่สำคัญในขณะที่ผมไม่อยู่ โดยกรรมการนักเรียนได้ให้การสนับสนุนอย่างเต็มที่ต่อแผนการนี้

ผมหวังจะได้พบคุณทุกคนตอนปิดเทอมฤดูร้อนนี้

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.
